The “BiMeBa” project is developing a band saw blade that enables cost-effective, energy- and resource-efficient wood cutting while delivering high-quality results on various types of wood.

Project background

The bimetal band saw technology is to be adapted for industrial use in the wood industry.

Project objective

The objective of the project is to develop a bimetal band saw blade that offers a significant increase in performance and improved cut quality while reducing resource consumption (material and energy).

Project procedure

To achieve the project objectives, various aspects of the band saw blade must be examined in detail. The development activities are divided into two areas. The first area involves the configuration of material selection and the development of the saw tooth geometry. The second area focuses on the iterative manufacturing and testing of the saw blade in the process environment.

Innovation

What makes this project innovative is the development of a bimetal band saw blade that enables more efficient wood cutting thanks to optimized product parameters. Upon successful completion, companies involved in primary and secondary wood cutting will benefit from increased process efficiency and reduced costs in logistics and warehousing.
