BlackBox: Flexible room-in-room system

Project background

The requirements for office spaces and workplaces have changed significantly over the last decade. Work is increasingly being carried out in flexible teams. Open-plan offices are the space concept of choice due to their adaptability.

In order to structure open-plan offices, a new type of room-in-room system is being developed as part of the project, which meets all the requirements of modern workplace design and at the same time contributes to noise control and therefore acoustic comfort in the open-plan space.

Project objective

The aim of the project is to develop a new type of "modular system" that meets the changing requirements for office space design. Individual, highly acoustically effective modules are to be designed in such a way that they can be combined to form both closed and open units or separate partition walls.

A newly developed connecting element will ensure that the elements can be easily dismantled and reassembled in different combinations and that the room and partition wall system can be flexibly adapted to changing office situations.

Innovation

The challenge in this project is to ensure thermal and acoustic comfort in an enclosed unit and at the same time to implement soundproofing measures in such a way that the confidentiality of conversations can be guaranteed.

In addition, all the necessary electrical and network installations are to be integrated into the system without making assembly considerably more difficult.
