This primary objective is to be achieved by making it easier for manufacturers, planners and fabricators to use. For example, complex and therefore expensive component tests are required for sound insulation and fire protection, which can be significantly reduced if corresponding material parameters are available for calculating constructions. A secondary objective of this research project is therefore to determine the required material parameters.
Another secondary objective is to develop measurement methods that take better account of the specific properties of insulating materials made from renewable raw materials. Furthermore, this research project aims to carry out sustainability assessments in order to demonstrate the potential additional benefits of insulation materials made from renewable raw materials.
Insulating materials made from renewable raw materials help to protect the environment through resource conservation and particularly environmentally friendly products, while also making a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. By increasing the possibility of using renewable raw materials from the non-food sector, this project also increases the competitiveness of German agriculture and forestry.
